Dr. Anant Shukla
MAJ, MD, FS, CAQSM
SPORTS MEDICINE & EMERGENCY MEDICINE
Dr. Anant Shukla is an Assistant Professor of both Emergency Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (Bethesda, MD) and serves in both departments at Evans Army Community Hospital. He treats a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal injuries and specializes in injection-based therapies ranging across the non-operative sports medicine spectrum, from steroid injections and hydrodilatations to gel shots, platelet rich plasma, and bone marrow aspirates.
He earned dual undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and International Relations from Boston University, completed his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and his Emergency Medicine residency at Dartmouth. Between medical school and residency, he served as flight surgeon for Task Force Apocalypse and deployed to Afghanistan. He then completed fellowship training in non-operative sports medicine at Vanderbilt University, caring for athletes at Vanderbilt University, the Nashville Predators, the Nashville Soccer Club, and the Nashville Sounds.
He currently serves as team physician for the World Class Athlete Program covering the boxing, wrestling, and marathon teams based at Fort Carson.

Dr. Brian Nelson
MAJ, MD, CAQSM
PRIMARY CARE SPORTS MEDICINE
Dr. Brian Nelson is a board-certified Sports Medicine physician and Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He serves at Evans Army Community Hospital, where he cares for active-duty service members, retirees, and athletes with a wide range of musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions. His clinical interests include ultrasound-guided procedures, regenerative medicine, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, orthobiologics, and the non-operative management of orthopedic injuries.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Dr. Nelson commissioned as a Combat Engineer Officer and deployed to Afghanistan in support of combat operations. He is a graduate of both Ranger School and Sapper School and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his military service. Following his service as an engineer officer, he earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, completed Family Medicine residency training at A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center, and subsequently completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship through the National Capital Consortium.
Dr. Nelson remains actively involved in medical education, research, and military readiness initiatives. As both a clinician and educator, he is passionate about helping service members and athletes return to peak performance through evidence-based care, advanced musculoskeletal diagnostics, and minimally invasive treatment options.
